MAIN ELECTIVE: KNOWING GOD // AUGUST 22
Join in the study of J. I. Packer’s book, Knowing God, led by various teachers each week in Korea (M114) at 7:00 pm. This week Bob Rencher will teach on “He Shall Testify.” 
 
HARVEST PARTNER’S COMBINED MAIN ELECTIVE // AUGUST 29
Join us Wednesday, August 29, at 7:00 pm in Korea (M114) for an evening of focused prayer for our missionaries and the unreached peoples of the world.
 
FALL LIFE TRAINING ELECTIVE // SEPTEMBER 5

CHECKPOINT AND COMMON GROUND // SEPTEMBER 9
Join us Sunday, September 9, at 6:00 pm; coffee will be served at 5:15. Men will meet in the Gym (M103) Pastor Jeff and Pastor Nathan will be speaking on “Redeeming Your Past.” Women will meet in the Sr. High Room (M150) and will be hearing from Gina Anderson on “Sitting at the Feet of Jesus.”

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Interested in using your musical gifts to lead the body of Christ in worship on Sundays? We are looking for lead male vocalists, electric guitarists (lead and rhythm), drummers, and bass guitarists. JUMP NIGHT & SCAVENGER HUNT // AUGUST 22
On Wednesday, August 22, at 7:00 pm, student ministries is changing up youth group with a JUMP Night for Jr. High and a scavenger hunt for Sr. High. Sunday, August 19, by 11:00 am, is the last day to sign up. Register at the Student Info Center or email studentministries@hbclynchburg.com.
 
PARENT NIGHT OUT // AUGUST 27
Students in 7th-12th grades and their parents are invited to attend our Parent Night Out on August 27 from 6:00-8:00 pm in the youth area. We will discuss Word of Life changes, our new missions strategy, and announce our 2019 STMT. There will be free dinner and prizes. JOIN THE PRESCHOOL TEAM
Our preschool ministry is in need of classroom helpers, welcome desk attendants, and hall monitors for both Sunday morning services. Email Zanna at zmwarner@hblynchburg.com to join the team. 
 
PROMOTION SUNDAY // SEPTEMBER 2
On Sunday, September 2, children in N6-5th grade will be promoted to their new classes. Details are posted at each classroom. Contact the church office with any questions. 
 
AWANA FIRST NIGHT // SEPTEMBER 5
Awana begins Wednesday, September 5, for children ages 2 through 6th grade. If your family attended Awana at HBC last year, please contact smitchell@hblynchburg.com if you did not receive an email. If you are new to Awana at HBC, please visit  hbclynchburg.com/children to register.

WOMENS ELECTIVE: INSIGHTS FOR WOMEN // AUGUST 22
Women of Heritage, don’t miss the opportunity this summer to hear from different women each week sharing their hearts with you about how God is working in their lives. WATERMARK APPLICATION DEADLINE // SEPTEMBER 2
Single, college-aged women of HBC seeking godly teaching and friendship with older women are invited to apply for our Watermark ministry. We meet monthly on Sunday afternoons from 1:00-4:00 pm on September 9, October 14, and November 11. Group size is limited. Application deadline is September 2 or until the group fills up. SINGLE WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY // SEPTEMBER 4

This eight-week program is an inter-generational connection helping to build up mothers, marriages, and lives through mentoring and cooking. Class begins September 6. YOUNG AT HEART SINGERS AND CHIMERS // AUGUST 24
Practice for the fall is Friday, August 24, with Chimers at 9:15 am and Singers at 10:15 am in the choir room. Lunch will follow. Local Outreach

 
 
SUMMER OUTREACH PROJECT UPDATE
Thank you to everyone who helped in donating, packaging, or distributing for the Summer Outreach Project. We packed 1,401 sandwiches, 1,048 lunches, 800 trail mixes, 120 Sports Outreach gift bags, 80 easy pantry meals, raised over $1,700 for Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center, and gave 4 gospel presentations!
 
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD // OCTOBER 12
HBC is partnering with Operation Christmas Child to pack shoeboxes for children around the world. For the cost of the items in the box and a $15 donation, these gifts are used to share the gospel, train a child in a 12-week discipleship program, and provide him with a copy of God’s Word in their language.
