Life Training Electives

As our vision statement clearly states, “We exist as a scriptural community, seeking to make disciples of Jesus Christ …” Life Training Electives are one avenue that assists us in accomplishing this mission in three different ways:

1. We offer a variety of classes for adults that are related to spiritual growth, Bible knowledge and application, life issues, and ministry preparation. Each class is designed to better equip you for life and ministry.

2. Our Men’s and Women’s Ministries offer gender groups /classes which focus upon related issues of men and women.

3. Several classes are offered through specific Discipleship Communities designed to provide a deeper level of relationships designed to move people in discipleship.

List of Electives – Summer 2018 (May 24-September 22)

How to Study the Bible
Stephen Vernon — Egypt, M234
Are you interested in studying the Bible inductively? Join us as we will be walking through parts of the Old and New Testament while using the three parts of inductive Bible study. We will be going through a resource called, “Lord Teach Me to Study the Bible in 28 Days” along with a few other resources aimed at using what you’ve studied in the Bible and how it applies to your life.

Marriage Elective
Dr. Jared Pingleton— Lybia, M238
Dr. Pingleton will be leading couples through his book, “Making Magnificent Marriages.” Marriage
is one of God’s highest gifts to us. Sadly, couples don’t often have the skills necessary to
experience this gift. This study serves as a practical relationship toolkit to minister to marriages
from both a Biblical and a psychological perspective.

1 Corinthians (Beginning June 20 – August 8)
Steve Nichols — Algeria, M240
Corinth is an amazing city with incredible history and archeology. This book was written almost
2000 years ago but Paul says it was written for all Christians in all places at all times, which has
incredibly modern application for us today. This book is filled with controversies that almost killed
the church – including jealousy, church discipline, sex, singleness, Christian liberty and spiritual
gifts. Taught by Steve Nicholes, Executive Dean, Word of Life Bible Institute, Jeju Island, Korea
Campus.

Harvest Partners
Jim Vernon, Marilyn Bumgarner, Bonnie Rencher — Germany, W127
Join us as we learn more about our missionaries and their work, as well as unreached people
groups and other religions around the world. Our missionaries are frequently guest speakers in the
meetings, and every meeting has focused prayer for our missionaries and the people they are
reaching. Each segment stands alone, so you may attend a Harvest Partners meeting at any time.

ESL Café
Various Leaders — International Plaza
Each Wednesday night during electives, this team connects with international members of our
community. Our goal is to provide one-on- one English tutoring and a grammar class to help
